planning on trying NCIVF

Anonymous
We just completed the preliminary tests and we are going to start with my next day one, any advice from NC veterans?

Started three cycles of NCIVF, completed only one so far (unsuccessful). My advice is to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally that things can go wrong at each stage (e.g. LH surge occurring, the embryo not growing, egg is not retrieved, etc.). We are only dealing with a male factor and I thought we would be successful on a first or at least a second try, but we are not one of the lucky ones you read about on this forum. Having said that, I am a big fan of Dominion Fertility and its staff and we are gearing up to try NCIVF again in the next week or so. Sometimes you have to do it over and over again to achieve pregnancy. Good luck to you!

PP I feel your pain, we were very lucky the first try with NCIVF and have a beautiful DD, however trying for #2 has not been as easy. We are committed to going this route but it can take longer than anyone wants.

Agree with PP -- try not to let yourself focus on the cycle too much. Unlike stimulated IVFs, you won't be taking anything to stop you from ovulating before trigger. We had two cycles that were canceled due to LH surge and no egg at retrieval. By the time we made it all of the way through, I had oddly become very unconcerned about things. I almost expected it to get canceled, and I had stopped letting my life revolve around my #s (estrogen, follicle size, etc.). Much to our surprise, we made it to retrieval, they got an egg... we had success. In the beginning though, we had not really been prepared emotionally for cancellations. The nice thing about NCIVF is that if you get canceled, you can proceed again the very next cycle. With stimulated (where we also had cancellations), you have to wait 3-4 months.
