Cupcakes cost what, $3.00, $3.50 tops. And yet the line for the "free" cupcakes will almost certainly be out the door. I can wait a week or so and buy my own.

I tried a free mini cupcake this morning. Can't remember the type but it was red (red velvet?). I don't think Red Velvet Cupcakery has anything to worry about as the Crumbs cupcake was overly sweet, very dry and had no flavor. I love cakes but I only had two mouthfuls of this then I threw the rest away.

What Crumbs to cupcakes is what Cheesecake Factory is to cheesecakes - big, bold, loud, drama, and too rich and sweet. But if that's what you like, go for it. Even if it's way too hyped, I still like Georgetown cupcakes.

OP here. Tried a chocolate with sprinkles. It was very ordinary. The sprinkles were old - not their fault but maybe they need to find another supplier - and the counter guy was rude.

Yuck. I tried these from the F Street location last week and they were terrible. Dry and flavorless. I heard the girl at the counter say they are baked off site. Maybe that's the problem. Or maybe the problem was that I just got a vanilla/vanilla and chocolate/chocolate (so I could compare to other cupcake places). Will not be going back!
