Health and Medicine
| i have what i thought was a yeast infection since last week but it didn't clear up with OTC meds so went to gyn today. she didn't see yeast on the slides but sent them to be cultured and is calling next week. might be bacterial. said there's definitely an infection. got much worse since i was there and seems to have spread to my derriere as of this evening. i will call tomorrow but has anyone had this happen with a yeast infection? |
| There are several natural products that you can take....you can find them at vitamin stores: Olive leaf Extract, Oil of Oregano, Colloidial Silver. These will all work for an infection such as the one that you are describing. |
| A natural product which I have used successfully (when oral and topical prescription stuff did not ) is tea tree suppositories (actually I think when they are inserted in the vagina they are called pessaries or something like that). They are sold at health food stores and at Whole Foods. They are kept with the womens' supplements (for pregnancy, menopause, UTI, etc). They are a bit stingy when you put them in, but they have cleared a yeast infection right up when weeks of prescription stuff did not work. I used them once a day for 3-4 days at bedtime (you don't want the stuff to drip out). And yes, yeast infections can affect parts posterior to the vagina. |
Another GREAT suggestion!!! |
| I know it sucks to have to restrict your diet, but yeast feeds off of sugar especially, and well, yeast (of course). SO it's best to cut out or really limit your sugar intake as well as bread and anything fermented while you have the candida present. And if no one has mentioned it already I'd add to start hitting up the probiotics in a BIG way. Acidophillus from WF or another health food store as well as the good old yoghurt. You can even put yoghurt into the vaginal opening or anywhere yeast is present and see if that helps. If your results come back needing a prescription for anti yeast meds you will really want to take the probiotics to counter them. As someone who's had to deal with recurrent candida I feel your pain! Good luck. |
I had to take three different antibiotics in 2010 and cannot get rid of yeast infection. Have tried all the OTC, seen Gyn. and had a prescription, then I took Fem-dophillus and another probiotic, simultaneously, and this helped but it hasn't completely gone away and am trying Gyne-lotrimin, second time. My question is will using honey cause this? I know it is sugar and this is probably the cause and I've cut out bread, sugar, and honey. I'm also taking a multi vitamin and I recall reading somewhere googled and some can also cause yeast infection. How do you ever get rid of the bio films of candida? Help please, Thanks. |
| PP, make sure you actually still have a yeast infection. Years ago I had what felt like an infection that wouldn't go away. When I finally went to a new doctor I learned that yeast was no longer the problem...turns out I had overused the anti-yeast creams and disrupted the natural balance down there. The condition has a name but it has been so many years that I just can't remember. She told me to throw away l of my yeast infection mess/remedies and instructed me to do a vinegar douche. I would get a née culture done. If it is actually yeast, my friend had good results with boric SCID that she inserted into her vagina...o think she had to go to a special pharmacy that could do compounds. Again, so many years ago. |

PP here...ack, iPod typos. I meant to recommend getting a new culture done, because overuse of those creams can kill the yeast and disrupt the balance down there, causing a condition that mimics the symptoms of a yeast infection.
And I meant to say...look into boric acid. |

18:43, it could be bacterial at this point. BV is actually more common than yeast. You definitely need a culture.
OP, yes, yeast can spread. Definitely do try to limit sugars of all sorts and stick to low glycemic foods. |
