K Parents - how was your P/T conference?

Mine was exactly what I already knew. Academically advanced but immature. So far, there has been little challenge for him but he likes school so I guess it is a good start. I hope he is challenged more once they form reading groups in Dec.

Mostly what I already knew, but we have fairly open lines of communication with the teacher.

Same as above. I work full time, but try to volunteer so I know the teacher and I see some of what happens in the class. I was given a lot of information of what my DD will be learning going forward so we can supplement what she is learning at school with what we do at home (on top of her weekly homework which is minimal).

You have minimal weekly hw? My kindergartner has a ton!!!!

Our conference was good, a few areas of concern, mostly in behavior, all of which I knew already. I wish the teacher was able to tell me how concerned I should be, rather than "we are working on it."

My son's class has all of the readers in it already so the teacher already has them in a group or two but K classes don't officially start reading groups until Dec.

DD's kindergarten class has had reading groups since early October. There are at least three, maybe four groups in the class.

Our school has been doing reading groups since Oct. We have had HW since the first week of school. I think he has way too much HW for a kindergartner.
