Fed gov health insurance coverage for IUI and IVF

Anonymous
We've done two failed IUIs at Shady Grove, having to pay totally out of pocket on BCBS. (they paid for some of the drugs, but was still over $500 for drugs alone) Are there any insurance plans available to fed employees that cover IUI and/or IVF? THANK YOU in advance for your responses. We are kind of desperate for any financial help with this.

Have you read the thread "Federal Health Plans & IVF coverage"? Plenty of info on this exact question.

Actually, OP, if you took the time to read the whole thread, you would have the answers you need. I don't understand why someone would go to a forum to post something and not read any potentially relevant previous posts, esp. when they're one of the top threads!

you are a miserable human being. why do you feel the need to make comments like that?! i am more educated than you will ever be. maybe if you could read, you would see that the questions I asked weren't answered in that other post. imbecile.

p.s.- i am not going to read whatever you choose to respond, so don't waste your time. garbage.

NP here...actually, your questions were answered. You may not have like PP's manner of expression, but she is correct.

I am starting to think with comments like "imbecile, " garbage," "miserable human being," and the statement that "I am more educated than you will ever be" that you must be a teenage troll.

OP, I just started researching the fed plans - it looks like bcbs (HMO) will cover some IUIs (I think up to 6?), and one of the aetna plans covers IUIs and IVF (but maybe only 50% of the cost). Personally, I hate that bcbs (PPO) won't cover any art procedures, and in 2011, won't cover medicine prescribed for art cycles, but it's such a good plan for all else medical. I'm reluctant to give up the other benefits solely to switch to another plan that does cover those things.

Pp here, you may want to check out the other plans' brochures on OPM's website. Most of info on infertility coverage starts on page 30 or so of each brochure.

OP: pot kettle black. That's your reaction to someone pointing the truth? You're an ignorant douche and a troll.

IVF - MDIPA, Kaiser and AETNA all cover 50%. MDIPA cover all the drugs for around 150.00, Aetna covers 50% of meds but it ends up being around 3-4K for the meds. Haven't been on Kaiser so I can't speak first hand of them but someone posted earlier that they paid 6K for a cycle so that is high. For IVF I'd rate the plans as MDIPA the best, Aetna 2nd, then Kaiser.

Do people on this thread have Tourette's syndrome? Who in their adult years calls someone a "douche?" That is not productive in any way. We are here to support one another ladies.
