Has anyone conceived immediately after gaining weight, even if the doctor says it isn't necessary?

My DH and I have been TTC for almost a year and are currently going through the various tests and work-ups. I have a tiny frame, have been stick-thin since childhood, and currently have a BMI of around 17.5 (5'5", 105 pounds). I have had bloodwork done to rule out a thyroid problem and was told I probably just have a "fast metabolism." During the infertility testing process, I have asked my OB/GYN on more than one occasion whether or not it would be beneficial for me to gain weight, drink Ensure, stop working out, etc. The doctor has said every time that it isn't necessary based on my weight and said that it "wouldn't make sense" just to put on weight for the sake of it, but I remain unconvinced. Has anyone else had luck after putting on a few pounds, even if the doctor didn't encourage it?

Not me but I am a nutritionist and I recommend that you up your fat intake before jus adding calories to gain weight (though you may gain weight in the process). More olive oil, coconut oil, nuts and seeds, nut and seed butters, avocado, salmon, organic butter, etc. Gl!

I have a BMI of 18 and have had the same thoughts. Both my Ob and RE said that BMI wasn't the issue. They both said that if I looked unhealthy and malnurished, then it could be the cause...but since I'm just thin, that isn't the problem. FWIW, I did try to put on weight and had trouble. (I know, such a horible problem to have) No babies yet, but still trying.
