Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
Thirteen months after my son was born (by emergency c-section, from which recovery was generally very quick and easier than I expected), I find that I still have pain sometimes when there is any pressure on my upper abdomen (cat walks on me, baby kicks, etc.) -- below the ribs and diaphragm, mostly. It's not serious pain, it's just odd and not anything that I had ever experienced before. My GP says it's nothing to worry about, can just be a normal part of recovery from pregnancy, c-section (though it's not near the c-section), but I've just been wondering if this is something others have experienced at all? If so, if there's anything you found that helped, exercises or anything like that?
Did your GP feel around there to rule out post-partum hernia? I
Funny you brought this up. I just had my annual physical today and brought up the same symptoms with my doctor. Abdominal tenderness 8 months after c-section. He suggested that I talk to my OB and ask if he had an insight that would explain the pain. He said the pain is NOT normal after this much time has passed, but he doesn't think it is serious. Most likely scar tissue. I am planning on following up with the OB because it really hurts when I cough or sneeze, so i will repost if I learn of anything.

I am going through something like this myself. I have pain mostly on the left side. I have had nearly every test preformed, and no answers as to what is causing the pain. It is getting worse, not better, and no one seems to have found a cause.
Right now I am thinking that it is likely to be scar tissue. |
scar tissue and hernia aren't uncommon.
I had two inquinal hernias after an emergency C-section. Took me a year to figure out why I got such sharp pains! This was baby #3, so don't know if the section had anything to do with it or my muscles were just yelling 'enough'.
