The whole "I'm richer than Croesus, but I drive a car with manual locks and windows because I'm sooooo much smahhhter than you" is the most overplayed cliché on DCUM. If sweating in summer and shaking over 75 mph makes you feel better than the poors/nouveau riche, enjoy reaching over to let your husband in the car, sweetie. Let people live.

I've got happy news for you--the cars listed in this thread have a/c, automatic locks, and can probably go over 75 (although how much of that happens on roads around here, I'm not sure). Why feel judged simply because others have different priorities?

Because those people are judging me for my priorities.

My good buddy who changes cars like underwear bought one a month ago and is ready to get rid of it. Honeymoon was way short and says he's now looking to ge a TLC as a daily. Currently he has 2 Porsches (365 & 911TTS), a baby hauler and a TRD pickup lifted pickup in his garage.

Just an update - my buddy traded in his G for a 2020 Toyota LC, ended up paying $79k and lost about 3K on the wagon. Sticker was 88K so he got a few bucks off.

Some folks are just car guys and it's not about showing off what they can afford. If that was the case with him he could of easily dropped $300k on some exotic. You think the car guys hobby is expensive - go look into what some guys spend on audio equipment, think 32k amps etc..lol

$4.8M

Honda accord.

I really don't care about cars. At all. The principle of dumping a lot of money into something that immediately loses so much value and only ever goes negative is a turn off. I wish I could live a car free life.

Super expensive cars are just dumb!

Those are expensive cars and you bought two within a year.

Give me a break!!! Those are not expensive cars. They probably bring home $30k a month net. It’s like 6 weeks pay. Peanuts.

$1.5 million and 5+ year old Subaru and Honda. Best resale value. Not interested in luxury money pits.

I just want to say I think it is so interesting that wealthy people in DC have no interest or little interest in top card. Many places in the country are very different.

Or maybe just doesn't like cars and is realistic about their depreciation. You're a bit touchy.

These are big expensive cars for the average earner. Very affordable that income but not inexpensive.

About $17MM net worth.
We have 2 2020 MB’s, one is a leased C300 the other is an owned GLC300.
I also have a 2016 MB SL400 as a “weekend” car and we have an Acura RDX that we keep at our condo in Florida.
We are an early 60’s couple, if that matters.

DP here. Just crossed $8 milliion.

2017 Honda Pilot - loaded
2019 - Honda Odyssey - mid range.

Only close in time due to an accident, but we generally keep cars for ~10 years.
Reason we bought Honda is reliability and we can walk to the dealership.
