How would you rate how Mayor Bowser has handled DCPS reopening?

She needs to close indoor dining and allow schools to open. It's time and not doing so is just abdication of leadership.

A voucher for what? Those vouchers don’t give enough money for anyone to get into a popular private school.

They’ll certainly help. I’d love to take the $20,000 in tax dollars per student and use it to send my kids to a private school where they actually might learn something this year.

I wasnt in favor in vouchers before but I am now.

We are going to be spending a fortune for child care for our school age kids even though we already paid a fortune in taxes for them to go to school. We have to pay twice because teachers refuse to work. Thanks teachers!

No problem. We have been waiting a long time to find a way to stick to the parents. We gotcha now!!

Love it, it’s parents like the above who make little racists, Trump supporters, misogynists, and the like. No respect for a profession that looked out for its best interests first. Just like NBA players did.

Thanks for zeroing that out.

I don't get why this game needs to of the zero sum variety. DC doesn't have much Covid. We've met the Mayor's thresholds to reopen restaurants AND schools. So do it.

DCPS needs convince people (not on this forum) that school is safe. It doesn’t matter what the science says, if people believe it isn’t safe they won’t send their children.

It also is a staffing issue. If 5-10 teachers take the COVID CARES leave that over 1,000 teachers DCPS has to hire just to open schools. These aren’t permanent positions. They would be 12 week positions. Do you know how impossible that is? DCPS can NOT fill all the vacancies in a normal year. Filling a short term leave of absence is almost IMPOSSIBLE. they can’t just have subs come in the building, because no one wants to sub for $10.00 an hour with no heath insurance during a pandemic.

You all can blame anyone and everyone you want. The logistics of trying to open the schools is impossible. That’s why everyone is doing distance learning.

Ans that's why so many parents are forming learning groups. DCPS has ordered principals not to support parents who from them. That's unreasonable. DL doesn't work well for many families flying solo. The tuned-out leadership should encourage parents to safely team to form small groups up to promote learning and better mental health for the kids. We don't have a lot of Covid here but we do have a lot of kids falling behind in school.

The positivity rate in DC is 2.0 percent. That meets every single major health organization’s standard for reopening schools. Schools should be open.

I know! We have to alert the manager!

Thank you for your nonsensical response. You should everyone a favor and never talk.

Did you tell the manager that?
