Thoughts on the new Churchill principal?

Why don't you contact the PTA President and ask for a meeting on this issue? Also make sure you include the homeowners in the area who hate all the traffic as much as you do. Oh and don't forget your torches and pitchforks. Also leave me out of it.

DD had to get out of the parking lot this afternoon to get to a doctor's appointment and had a very difficult time. Ended up being 15 minutes late. She says the lot is a big mess and that the administration knows it but has no alternative solution right now.

+1000 - I wish the local news would come and get camera footage of all the lots. The school administration will stay the course unless someone shines a video spotlight on the dangers Mrs. Heckert created with her changes. There are safer alternatives.

The local news has been told far worse and hasn’t chosen to cover it.

A near collision on day 3 would indicate it is just a matter of time before a student is involved in an accident.

Well then you’ll get your news footage.

There's always the ability of parents and students to use cellphone footage to post on the internet and send to news outlets.

Ah yes the news will love that. "Entitled parents and teens complain about 15 whole minutes of difficulty twice a day". Hopefully it will show an Audi going the wrong way out of the lot. Or how about this headline "Potomac Parents Don't Like Waiting and Neither Do Their Kids" or "School so good that they only thing people have to complain about is the pick up and drop off." I'm sure it will all go viral and they will send all the resources necessary to make more roads for you.

This one cracked me up. Thanks, PP!

You really need to scroll down and read the whole thread about the fancy cars at Quince Orchard and other schools. They are NOT limited to Churchill or the other "W" schools. I know for a fact that the majority of the cars are not high-end fancy cars because my kids go there. Are there some? Yes, but most of them are their parents old cars, used cars or plain old Honda's, Fords and Mazda's. Most importantly, your comments have nothing to do with the dangerous situation that the new parking lot logistics have caused.

It wouldn't be dangerous if everyone would be allow adequate time for drop off, be patient and follow the rules. It isn't the school's fault. It is the fault of the parents and the children.

The majority of complaints in this thread is the new dismissal procedure of putting school buses in the student parking lot, not drop off procedures.

Why isn't aren't the buses a problematic factor in the morning? They arrive at different times to the school and all can use the loop designed for buses at the school. If the bus loop isn't big enough for the volume of buses, it only makes sense that MCPS Transportation can come up with a time table so all the buses are not picking up at the same time.

Blocking students into the student lot is creating the mess. Sure, students are violating traffic safety rules but they also need to be able to leave their assigned lot at dismissal.

Exactly, I don't know any other school in MCPS that blocks students from leaving the lot after dismissal for 10-15 minutes. Not okay.

In the morning, the bus just pulls up, unloads, and leaves. In the afternoon, buses have to sit there a while to wait for everyone to get on.
