The school is formerly Catholic? |
| Still is Catholic. Don't worry, us non-Catholics will never darken its doors again. |
Catholic here. I always wonder about this too. I think they feel excluded, but then they don't want to be a part of the institution anyway? They just want to criticize it. (?) Very weird. |
| Because you foist your views onto the rest of us and try to limit our legal rights. |
| Are lame. |
|
And the whole Catholic superiority cult is obnoxious. When you act like you don't even know whether an Episcopalian is a christian (or other non-Catholic christian), you sound stupid. When you talk to a non-Catholic about the latest and greatest with the Pope, you forget that he is as irrelevant to non-Catholics as the president of a local Lion's Club is to the President of Russia. Out of touch and too insular. And totally getting an elitist clubby attitude.
And please stop acting like you are being mistreated and excluded from society. That was true, and real concern, when JFK was running for office. When tons of elected officials and the majority of the Supreme Court are catholics, you are fine. |
What I meant, is why do catholics and non-catholics care that much about legal marriage when it's the Christian marriage that they should care about more. |
| This thread is why we consciously avoided religious schools at all, with a couple of carefully selected exceptions, when we applied for our DC last year. |
If you're not religious, doesn't that just make sense? |
|
How did this thread go from the finger to Catholic school?
|
Oops! Posted in the wrong thread. Never mind. Carry on. |
Is that like the artist formerly known as Prince? |
Actually, the rabid anti-catholic thing on this board is getting old. Generalized hatred toward a group of people based on their religion is never a good thing by anyone at any time. There are kind people and there are assholes among every religion. You don't sound like you are in a position to lecture anyone else until you let go of your hatred. |
|
The premis of the thread is absurd, Catholic schools are diverse and widely varied. Just an invitation to bash Catholics.
What's next "Jews in General" or "Blacks in general?" |

Wow! Just read through this. I have had kids at Catholic schools, public school, and secular private schools. There were cliques at all three. This is human nature, and it is regrettable some are attributing this kind of cliquishness to religion. In fact, the public ES we used was the most cliquish.
I have no idea where this idea comes from that Catholics feel superior. If there is one thing that really gets drummed into Catholics it is that we are all sinners. I have never once heard a Catholic insinuate in any way that Protestants are not Christians. That would be abject ignorance. I also have never seen a Catholic initiate a discussion of the Pope with a non-Catholic. That would be socially inept like an American initiating a discussion about our president with non-Americans. Fine to discuss of course if one is asked. I also do not know any Catholics who feel mistreated or excluded from society. Many do feel, however, that while it is politically incorrect to criticize most mainstream religions, Catholicism, along with Islam and Mormonism, remain fair game. Kind of like mocking white Southerners is still okay. |
