What franchises have you seen in other parts of the country that you wish were in the D.C. area?

Fast Food:
McAlister's - love everything there...wish I was back in Atlanta now
Zaxby's - totally forgot how much I hated that they called their salads "zalads" lol. Love everything there
Steak & Shake - love mostly everything; hate the fries!

Grocery Stores:
Public - love love love!

Jason's Deli
Spicy Pickle

Jack in the Box is disgusting!

There are several Jason's Deli's around... Falls Church and Fair Lakes, off the top of my head. I'm from Oklahoma and I haven't heard this one yet - Braum's. Delicious ice cream and burgers and the nicer ones have a mini grocery aisle where you can pick up milk and other goodies. Mmmmmm.

Of course, would settle for an In-n-Out.

I've made the drive to Fredericksburg for Sonic...

A Jason's Deli in NWDC or Bethesda would be awesome.

I don't know if they're a franchise, but the best gas stop/rest station I've ever been to was a Goasis. Clean, stylish, real food.

The grilled cheese hater can bite me. Not something to eat all the time, but so good. If this place ever franchises - omg:

http://meltbarandgrilled.com/

It opened as a one-off and was jammed from the first day. I don't know why their stuff tastes so good, but a deal with the devil is not out of the question.

Bring back Farrell's! We really need an old fashioned ice cream parlor.

Jersey Mike's in Bowie.
Wegmans is opening a new store in Crofton too at the end of the month.
All not within the beltway, but worth a drive?

We drive to Hobby Lobby. Well worth it.

But if it were closer in, I could shop there everyday

Have you eaten there recently (ie the past 1-3 years)?

They have really improved their menu.

There is an evening child drop off we used to use in Raliegh in place of getting a sitter. It was a franchise and everyone we knew used it and loved it!
You had a membership and had to make reservations but it was great!
Especially in a city like dc with so many transients that don't have family in the area to help babysit kids.
I would love to have one here but I cannot think of the name right now
