No. Lots of people are losing wages or leaving kids alone who shouldn't be.

Well you chose to have kids in an area with snow. You knew snow days would be a possibility. It's YOUR responsibility to provide childcare no matter what. It's not MCPS's responsibility to raise your family.

Many of us aren't getting paid this week. My spouse does not get PTO and is hourly.. it sucks but we know its an issue and plan accordingly. Most people here can afford back up care but choose not to. Ask a friend or neighbor and then help them out or rotate.

The posters who are all like, you chose to have kids. Insane. What a crowd. It can be both challenging for schools to reopen after a big storm AND very hard on parents when schools close most of the week.

Oh God. Just popped in and of course the awful soulless snow day troll/bully is here again. Maybe if we all ignore her she'll go away. Not sure what makes a person delight in other people's suffering so much, but regardless of the reason let's not give her the satisfaction.

I mean, yes, well-off entitled people are more likely to complain publicly when things don't go the way they want. But that doesn't mean that politer people aren't just as inconvenienced and upset (or more so.)

No one said they weren’t inconvenienced, only that the entitled ones are wailing about it.

Also literally every other school system in the area including DCPS. I have no idea why MCPS is under such attack here. The whole region is in the same boat.

Other then the transition day the only reason there appears to be failures is because of the 180 calendar day requirement. Universities don't have to makeup days but public schools in some states like Maryland do.

Some classes are being offered online. Why isn’t McPS doing this?

You do understand that one reason the schools continue to be closed is that the lots have not been plowed, right? It’s not snow at this point. It’s solid ice that weighs as much as concrete.

Childcare staff and parents would be in the way of the people trying to clear the lots. I can’t get off my street yet, so it’s likely others (childcare providers) are in a similar situation. It is what it is.
