The Fairfax County PD offers a Public Safety Cadet program. This link is for the 2025 program, but the should update it for 2026 at some point.

So far in 2026 there have been 3 LEOs killed by gunfire, 3 killed by vehicles and 1 killed by a train.

Many years traffic fatalities outnumber gunfire fatalities, but not in 2025. Thankfully line of duty deaths were at historic lows last year.
