With respect to applied math, consider including colleges with an available major in data science.

Based on your daughter's criteria, she may benefit from looking into colleges notable for their classroom experience:

Are you trolling? Who has a 75%+ chance at getting into Emory to call it a safety?

University of Rochester could be a great target!

Emory isnt a Safety or target for anyone. Emory is harder to get into than WashU or Georgetown, schools that everyone in here says is a Reach.

- collaborative, highly intellectual culture where students love learning, not all about jockeying for IB connections or the next IPO opportunity
- Female, unhooked, non URM, from a top private, full pay, quiet nerdy but has lot of friends
- 1580, 3.88 from a school that’s known for rigor/doesn't grade inflate (no one gets a 4.0), decent ECs (STEM leadership, part time job year round, volunteer year round, some regional math and writing awards)

I love how every post feels compelled to point out that their private school does not inflate grades. The fact is, virtually all schools do, private or public.

She might be at NCS.

Likely. How ridiculous that this parent is on DCUM looking for suggestions rather than engaging with the College Counseling Office.

Emory’s acceptance rate for the class of ‘29 was 14.95%
Washu’s and Georgetown were 12%.

Plus, Georgetown is test required and Emory is test optional. This puts them in entirely different leagues, even if test score stats look “similar.”

Multiple posters mentioned MIT, CMU, Swarthmore and Harvey Mudd. Are these not where fun goes to die schools which OP said they don’t want?
