Would be interesting to know who exactly was tested. It’s not like all of the immigrants who came through Ellis Island had university degrees and were eager to get their kids through high school rather than bringing home money, especially daughters. Was NWEA testing groups that were succeeding at one room school houses and posh boarding schools? |
The entity that prosecutes anti-semitism on campuses is...the department of education.
Oh, well. |
Mississippi's brilliant strategy for increasing 4th grade reading scores was to prevent low scoring students from enrolling in 4th grade! They just gamed the stats. https://mdek12.org/literacy/lbpa/ |
So, no more student loan payments? |
Are you suggesting that black kids are not as good test takers, all things being equal? |

Nope. It's not irreparable harm, while the case percolated through the system. I guess. |
There will be federal loans but amount borrowed will be limited. Private lenders will get more business. Based on this article, they may approach the loan the way mortgage lenders do — assess the program (property), value of the program, decide if the degree has value: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/12/your-money/student-loan-limits.html Problem is, would Trump and cronies encourage lenders to favor certain schools simply for political reasons. Bob Jones and Liberty= yes Harvard and Columbia=no The newly launched Trump University=yes!!!! |
+2 A large contingent unable/incapable of going to school wasn’t there to bring down the average. And many were just yanked out of school to work. My grandmother used to say in her family, doing homework was a privilege. The ones left were most likely from homes that supported education and expected degrees out of their kids. |
So far, Congress is proceeding with their appropriations bills as normal. They are ignoring the president's budget requests for major cuts to departments and agencies, instead keeping funding generally flat. I don't know that they've gotten to Education yet but so far, that's what they've been doing. The Supreme Court is behind here and not paying attention to what's happening in real time.. |
+1 exactly right |
Higher taxes do not guarantee better education; see DCPS and Baltimore City Schools for proof. |
The executive does not have the ability to rewrite laws with executive orders. |
That failure alone is reason to burn it all down. |
Gee. I thought it was the Department of Justice that did the prosecuting. |
