| My kid chose NYU over Emory |
ranked 35, dropped more than washU. |

I noticed that WashU and NYU didn't make the new ivy private list, despite having high sat scores and low acceptance rates. Probably because employers aren't fond of them.

Yet Emory did lol. NYu only has Stern anyway. |
| What does HYP stand for? |
Pp are you going to explain what you mean by this? The Emory boosters quickly dismantled the argument. How do transfers and freshman retention increase at the same time? |
Harvard, Yale, Princeton |

Agree. |
No, doesn't seem like they will. Although curious why Emory bothers many on DCUM. I personally think Emory, Vandy, WashU, and Rice are peers. But if there was a school between those 4 to worry about, it's WashU. I don't think it'll recover from the massive drop it had last year. Also, Emory is more recognizable than WashU by the general public, both schools need a high ranking but WashU needs it more than Emory. |
Agree. Nothing special about them now except they once tried hard to attract rich WASPs back then. |

It is act harder than people realize when your kid gets off a waitlist.
By then you are usually down a different path mentally. A visit is a good idea but then your kid should go with their gut. |
Agree |
| PS-my kid had some resentment toward the school that was less than enthusiastic about them initially. |
Although the acronym has quite properly been expanded to HYPSM, they are the schools most of you can only dream about. |
