Yes, Christianity is about forgiveness. Which is why the way people want to govern with their "christian values" in such a punitive manner makes zero sense.

And why people who go on and on about "christian family values" are largely hypocrites because that is about telling people that THEIR values are better than other people's values (and then it turns out many of them have committed the same sins)

Many presidents, including FDR, JFK and LBJ cheated on their wives. The reason I don't support Haley is because of her policies (she's in favor of a federal abortion ban, for example). I don't care whether or not she's cheated.
