NOT normal at all. Never saw a vacancy under the last library manager. If there was, it must have been quickly filled.

I believe they told us at the library kickoff PD that there were 3 schools starting the year without librarians. That was as like *completely* unheard of in the past.

Not unheard of at all. There were four librarian vacancies at the beginning of the 23-24 school year. Massive teacher shortage since Covid… not surprising that it’s also affecting librarians.

Correct. I think the point is that this is all occurring under the new administrator. In previous times, these were coveted roles and many teachers were eager to join up. I fear there is no vision for the impact libraries can make right now.

There were four library openings when the previous coordinator left the job, and there are about the same number Now with the new coordinator. I think it’s an overall national trend, not some thing that happened because a new coordinator came in.

This is the problem with public education today The worst teachers are pushed into administrative roles. Then they get kickbacks to implement the latest teaching fad.

Good teachers slowly driven out by all the nonsense. So the lowest common denominator administrators and now taking it to the classroom. Only way to close the achievement gap is by dumbing everything down.

The worst teachers and, apparently, the worst principals.

Just saw that the Herndon ES principal, who is a psychological basket case, was also moved into the admin offices.

PP—My, my aren’t you a crappy POS. Posting your slander here on an anonymous forum about someone we can all identify. What’s your name and where do you work? Would love to post about what a loser you are.

Agreed -100%

There’s enough negativity on social media now and I have to wonder who has the time and mean streak to post about people by name under the cloak of anonymity- what a coward. The library coordinator AND the former Herndon ES principal are amazing human beings. If you disagree, why don’t you tell them yourself instead of dragging them (and others) through the cyber mud? Loser indeed.

So many principals have moved to gatehouse just this year. Did anyone leave or are they just manufacturing additional spots for these bad principals?

A couple years ago our excellent principal (families and teachers loved) moved to Gatehouse. I assume they manufactured a role because she wanted to move up and they didn't want to lose her to another district. Annoying that our tax dollars go for manufactured roles for any reason, though.

Jay Pearson at Marshall and Penny Gros at Justice were both generally well regarded before they took jobs at Gatehouse. On the other hand, some of the other principals who ended up at Gatehouse were dead wood.

I have 2 kids at Herndon ES and I've interacted more with the VP's as opposed to the P but I've never heard or encourtered anything that would elicite this type of commentary on the recent former P. Do you have anything to back this up? Be as specific as possible.

Can anyone provide a full org chart for Gatehouse? I have been trying to find a recent one.

They are public servants. They work for the public and citizens have the right to express feedback.

Speaking of disgraced principals - whatever happened to Scott Bloom? I understand he's no longer allowed to work in public education but for real, is he NOT working in public schools?

Feedback should include the "what" or "why" making disparaging comments about an easily identified person is just a garbage thing to do unless you add something backing up your claim.

I don’t think this was the typical “you’re not cutting it as a principal, here’s a random role in HR” scenario that we see too often. The former coordinator is an incredible leader and human, so the new person has very big shoes to fill. From her bio, it seems like library services is her passion and a significant part of her background, so hopefully her skillset is better aligned here than it was as a principal.

FWIW, seeing ineffective principals get placed in random central office jobs angers me so much. It takes credibility away from roles where many of us have deep expertise and are truly working to improve student learning outcomes despite a system that has much opportunity for improvement.

You're talking about Bonitatibus from TJ, aren't you.
