Jeff Zients throws a hissy fit in a memo about RTO

So in a 40 hour week they work 32 hours.

People in office 40 hours when you add in lunch hour and two hour commute spend 55 hours of time away from home.

Why should they be paid the same?

What a stupid argument. People are not working during their commute and meal breaks.

WFH is great for disabled workers and in fact since Covid when remote work became more common, the employment rate of disabled workers has shot up.

That is not something to dismiss easily. Unless you are ableist and don't care about disabled workers.

This guy (last page 13:59) can't even defend working 10 hours in a week.

Can we get back to Jeff Zients? I still don't know who that is or why I should care about him.

And most are not working the full 40.hrs that they are physically in the building..ppl who want to slack off can still chat with coworkers, loiter, get coffee, surf the Internet on their phone etc.

Working less than 10 hours and getting paid for 40. Everyone should be back in the office. How is this okay?

How many times do we have to tell you? We have all worked with PLENTY of people who are in the office 50-60 hours and do about 10 hours of work. WFH/RTO we will always have those people. And yes they suck.

Why do you think everyone should return to the office? It's a 60-90 minute commute and $10-20 in tolls for my spouse. When they go into the office they refuse to work any extra hours so the employer is losing out as they usually use that commute time to work.

Do what the rest of the world does. Pick an office close to your home. Anyone working from home should take a 20% paycut.

I don’t know PP. the poster from the other thread sounds pretty proud of herself knowing how to “work” the system (aka, getting free paychecks.)

You’re not the one making these decisions so rage impotently all you want.

Well of course. That's primarily why these people suck. They don't care about anyone but themselves. They don't care if work gets done. They are either playing politics and gossiping or avoiding work or pretending to work. Been like that forever. WFH RTO not a factor.

POTUS COS. I worked directly with him in a previous job. Always found him to be very respectful to and appreciative of staff. Also thought he was kind of attractive. He’s just playing politics with this memo. They need to be able to say in 2024 that feds are back on site otherwise the R’s will rip into them. I don’t think Zeints himself cares. He’s just following the boss’s orders.
