Nobody is really even in here talking about Chrissy and her past. Mostly its about the ethics of surrogacy. Why are people trying to shut that down? Move along if you're bothered. |
Here's the background for all those sooo confused why people don't put Chrissy on a pedestal. https://www.insider.com/chrissy-teigen-tweets-bullying-feuds-drama-timeline-2021-6 |
+2000. Leopards don’t change their spots. Only reason chrissy apologized is bc of the backlash. She’s vile AF. |
No one even responded to my post a few pages back that talked about mortality rates in other high risk professions so I think people just like to crap talk her. |
Or, alternatively, people disagreed that surrogacy is like a “profession” in the way you are talking about it. I don’t really think one way or another about Chrissy Teigen, but I find the trend of more celebrities using surrogacy in this manner a little disturbing. It feels like baby farming to me. That opinion has nothing to do with Teigen herself and I’d say the same thing about any wealthy couple using a surrogate to have a 4th child, especially if the surrogate in question miscarried and had to have surgery before delivering a healthy baby. It makes me uncomfortable. |
There's a reason surrogacy is flat out illegal in much of the world when roofing is not. The US will probably evolve eventually to follow that same path, we just take longer on some of these controversial issues. Wealthy people renting the wombs of those less well off isn't something everyone wants to celebrate. Especially those who have several kids already. People might have more empathy for a childless couple who otherwise wouldn't be able to have a family. There's a lot less empathy and understanding for Chrissy, Hilaria and Kim Kardashian. |
I disagree re Kim Kardashian. She had a fairly severe medical issue called placenta acreta. She was absolutely justified using a surrogate. |
Justified? That's a reach. It's never really justified to take advantage of people and paying them to put themselves and their body in harm's way just because you feel justified in having a bigger brood. |
They didn’t respond so how would I know if they agreed or disagreed? |
No one engaged with your argument so you concluded that they must just really hate Chrissy Teigen. But actually it just wasn't a very good argument. Most of the critical comments on this thread are not of Teigen herself, but of this use of surrogacy (for a fourth child) in general. It seems that wealthy people have decided that they are entitled to as many children as they personally want, even if getting them means hiring wombs to carry them. It's weird. |
NP. Normal people just stop having kids when it endangers their life or they keep going knowing they could die. |
Or they hire a surrogate or adopt. |
No one should have to do that. What a stupid thing to say. Someone can expand their family however they wish. |
Hey, I might die having another baby, why don’t you do it for me? So noble. As if pregnancy isn’t inherently dangerous for all women. |
We gave birth control, no no one has to do that. If you already have multiple kids, no one NEEDS more children. Why is it ok for the surrogate to risk her life so some rich people can have a third or fourth baby, but it’s apparently cruel to say, “if you want another child that much, risk your own life.” We aren’t talking about people who use surrogates due to inability to conceive. Teigen had three healthy children already. |
