Our kids were friendly with her kids when she lived in Arlington. She never spouted political stuff and also seemed to be engaged with her kids, despite her schedule. She did do the mom's social things but our interactions over our children were very pleasant and kind.

I thought she didn’t do terribly. But it was like a cat turn panini. It looked pretty good in the outside, talking about raising wages for public school teachers and economic freedom (which is at least an old school core Republican value from the days before republicans were just the anti-science pro-hate party). But when you bite into it, there’s a huge fat turd of culture wars right in the center. Blech.

And I actually thought she looked good. When she was at the WH, the republicans kept trying to make her into a Fox News broadcaster with fake eyelashes and curled hair and she looked so awkward that I felt bad for her. She looks much more comfortable in her skin now. I think she missed a real opportunity here — if she’d been a little more subtle, she could have convinced some of the swing voters who do want less government regulation, school choice, and are nervous about inflation—-but who have been rightfully scared off by the meanness and craziness of the modern republic party.
