And to Carter and to FDR…….. |
What?!? You don’t have to be in the majority to propose legislation. |
When Democrats are in charge, you do. Neither Nancy nor Chuck are keen on allowing AMENDMENTS, let alone legislation proposed by Republicans. |
it is not so much taxing more as taxing fairly. Fixing loopholes that shield big earnings which are quietly going to billionaires. |
| GOP is mad - indicating this is seriously going for a vote |
Prove it. What amendment to this bill was introduced and rejected? Provide a link. |
Cutting taxes would be inflationary. |
That's right. |
Republicans do the same thing. Was at a Senate debate with Senators Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Rob Portman (R-OH). They both lamented that each of their leaders do this. They both wanted it to stop. |
Oh really? How quickly we forget . . This is re: the ACA and is only one site that shows many amendments were allowed to ACA, as well as overtures to get bipartisan buy-in on the bill. McConnell directed his caucus not to cooperate. https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2017/08/01/set-health-record-straight-republicans-helped-craft-obamacare-ross-baker-column/523952001/ "Democrats on that committee accepted 160 Republican amendments to the bill." |
The last tax cut saved me well over 10k a year in federal income tax. I was not in favor of that nor did I need it. And frankly it is all going into SEP IRAs and investments. That said...cutting taxes is not an option. When you have nearly half the country paying little to no federal income tax and quite a few getting refunds through tax credits...who are you going to cut taxes on? Me? The rest of the upper 10% who don't need such a cut? |
