Bowser throws shade at Lafayette parents

I just laughed so hard I woke up my PKer. Thanks!

Would love a verifiable polling option on here and would love to ask Lafayette parents if told that they were being being moved out of D-W(J-R really) and had to choose between driving 7 minutes to Wells/Coolidge or 30 minutes to Hardy/New HS at old GDS which they would choose.

I'm pretty confident all of the parents on here whining about a short drive across the park would suddenly find the extra time in their luxury SUVs is not such a big deal.

Since no one from Stoddert/GP wants to go do this new HS since it is so inconvenient to get to and all the Lafayette kids are already being driven to D-W why not send them to the new school in their Range Rovers and use let the intended new OOB slots move to transit accessible Deal & Jackson-Reed instead?

Win win right? (except for the planet but I'm pretty sure most Lafayette parents don't care based on what I see them driving up to Deal and Jackson-Reed in)

Good lord. So many generalizations about a community of almost 900 students and their parents.

But let's go back to the root question here - why do so many of you care about a few Lafayette parents and their whining about space? The game is over. The decision was made. They are taking the Lafayette PK4 slots (classroom by classroom) to make room for upper grades as their solution to over crowding. Will that decision stop a handful of very vocal, obnoxious parents from complaining. No, it won't. But do like the rest of us Lafayette families do...ignore them. Because the decision was already made. There will always be whiners. And I've NEVER heard a Lafayette parent or staff member talk about Lafayette going to Wells/Coolidge before - their fear of it, their hope that we don't go there, there hope that we DO go there...nothing. That is a "thing" made up by the DCUM community. If DCPS can find over 300 seats for Lafayette at Wells, then let's see how Lafayette community responds. Until then, why you gotta make stuff up posters?

"a few" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.

I'm not even sure what this means. Can you explain? Thanks.

Hold on - does Lafayette really have 7 classes of kindergarten?

That is bloody insane.

I suspect this entire thread was started by a Robert White supporter to smear Bowser.

Wells is already at projected enrollment this year, I believe. People on DCUM forget that one of the Wells’ feeder schools is also one of the larger elementary schools in the city, and much like Lafayette, it’s not getting any smaller.

I’d guess Lafayette will get pushed out is Deal/ Wilson next.

What’s Anthony White’s position.

There's no more room on that site to expand Lafayette, and it just was modernized a few years ago, so that's not happening. I hope they either enjoy the return of the trailers or losing PK4 because that's the next step for them, all because they rejected a perfectly reasonable offer because of "reasons."

Idk, I went to a school that had 4 stories. They could expand up ⬆️
