Confident stride and air about them
Perfect haircut Sweatshirts that say Martha’s Vineyard on them (preppy, classic styled clothing) Relaxed, no worry personality |
I did not learn this until I started my first professional job in dc. And I did not even grow up rich. |
This. We have 7m and still work. |
| Dh and I both grew up pretty rich/well off… my parents passed away in my 20s and I inherited 10mm. Dh would inherit 20mm if his parents passed today. We both grew up in professional high income households who invested. Both of us went to public schools in bougie towns, private college. DH went on to law school, I worked at a “big 3” dc private and then an elite school elsewhere on the east coast, quit June 2020. People of similar upbringings look pulled together, have nice teeth, and talk the touchstone talk (ie know resorts, vacation spots, how to ski etc), don’t stress about buying the first house etc. Through my jobs at elite schools I’ve done great professionally because I know the lingo and how to smile and nod appropriately. I’ve taught children of billionaires… people like myself can behave, react and interact with the truly rich billionaire class, but I can never relate. Billionaire class has full time staff, full time “homework helpers”, travel private everywhere and own homes that are 5mm plus in multiple locations. The adults in these families are very busy doing non jobs like charities and events etc. all their clothes are designer-designer, live in absurd homes but I have found they don’t drive the flashiest cars - I.e my most recent billionaire students mom drove a nice infinity SUV. They are super pleasant to me, the help. The rich-like-me parents have thrown tantrums over absurd things and don’t you know who I am? fits. In my mind as a 20 something big 3 teacher I always was just like cool… you’re and asshole, while giving a pleasant line of complete BS. |
Good for you but that was not the point. The point he made was that he drives a modest car not a flashy one. I know many people with less money who drive much more expensive cars. |
I love that he surprises people with gifts. If I had millions I would love just over tipping buying gifts and making peoples’ days each and every day. |
Sadly this is seeming accurate, at least for the kind of rich people who enjoy flaunting it. There are women over in Beauty and Fashion who are honestly saying there’s nothing offensive about a $20,000 (or a higher) annual wardrobe. |
| When they’re a “professional squash player.” Lol! |
Exactly - I found that delightful also … so unfortunate posters saw fit to deride the size of his wealth when his heart is in good shape … |
LOL |
| Is your last name Trump? You are rich |
Don't you think that someone who hoards far more than they need while letting others suffer is a sociopath, even if they dress in thriftstore clothes and drive an old beater? At least the "spender" is sharing the wealth and stimulating the economy. |
NP. This describes me, my sister and my cousins. I’m the beneficiary of two trusts and my cousins have other family trusts on their side. With one exception, we all work in do-gooder jobs. |
Aww, thanks. I am a she. Lol. And, I know mo eyes does absolutely nothing and is meaningless. I lost my Mom and brother in relatively a short time and have chronic painful illnesses. It only makes me happy to see others happy. |
| I've spent a lot of time around the very wealthy and I can tell you people who grow up with extraordinary amounts of money are kind but firm to the help. People who just came into money are mean. |
