need flattering outfit for gross post partum body...fashionistas PLEASE help!

Anonymous
I have three events coming up in the next few weeks and I want to buy one good outfit I can wear to all three
(something black/comfortable/stylish/flattering)
I am looking SOOOOOOO bad.....tired....fat....pale...you name it......anyway. I still have lots of weight to lose.
I am 5'5" and weigh 165....it's mostly concentrated in my belly and boobs.
I was thinking about maybe black boots with black leggings? Yes? No?
What about up top? Would one of those oversized cardigan type sweaters look good?
I want to try to camouflage the belly if possible.
I have spanx I can wear (the over the belly and to the mid thigh style)
Would love an "expert" advice about how to dress to not look like I am still 5 months pregnant!

Please help!
Thanks!

You can't go wrong with a flattering wrap dress -- and it will fit when you lose weight, you'll just have to wrap it tighter.

I think black leggings and boots, by making your legs look as thin as possible, will emphasize the largeness of your belly and boobs.

Also, if you're looking tired and pale, black won't be your most flattering color. I'd look for something in a rich/darker jewel tone-- hunter green, garnet, eggplant, navy-- so you get the slimming effect of a darker color but the skin flattery of color.

Agree about a wrap dress-- something with a pattern. I've had about the same body for a while and wrap dresses or mock-wrap dresses are most flattering on me. And you can wear them with kick ass boots too.

I agree with the wrap dress. I have a faux wrap dress with a ruched waist that I love, love, love. For daytime events, I wear it over a camisole. For evening, I skip the cami and add a chunky necklace. Add tights and heeled boots.

Only wear black if it is a flattering color on you though. Chocolate, navy, plum, hunter are all good alternatives for different skin tones.

PS Don't refer to your body as "gross'! It did you a huge favor, producing a tiny human. Take care of it (and buy it something pretty).

OP, wear something with an empire waist and a neckline that emphasizes those huge postpartum boobs. A dress that is tight on the boobs and loose below to a nice a-line skirt would be perfect. Keep it knee length and wear hose and nice shoes and all anyone will see is your great legs and tits. No one will notice the rest.

OP- I agree with the rest of the folks who say wrap dress. Get one in black or a different dark color. Acessorize with great jewelry. Ditch the boots though and show off your legs with sexy fabulous heels in a different color. Ex. black dress, red heels.

any suggestions for where to find a great wrap dress?

Empire waist - NO, NO, NO...you will probably get "when are you due comments?" that style is very unflattering if you have a belly .

I agree with 17:46 - no empire dress.

You can get a wrap dress at macys: they have plenty - here is an example.

OK, not an Empire waist that stops right under your boobs, but a waist that stops before your natural waist (or pooch). Then a full skirt below, so your smallest part is emphasized.

Love the dress, but in defense of OP, 5'5" and 165 is not in the 1X department. Right now I'm in about the same boat, and am a size 12. Huge to me, compared to my normal size 6/8, but not exactly a size 18 (which I think is where 1X starts).

just mentioning it since OP started by calling herself gross, and don't want pointing her towards the plus size department to do a number on her self esteem!
