Bakery in Arlington

Anonymous
HI,

We are looking for someone to bake our two year old's cake. We are not interested in Heidleberg or Randolph's. Any other ideas out there? Thanks!

Well, those are the 2 really great bakeries in Arlington. What specifically are you looking for?

OP here. WE LOVE Heidleberg. We are there weekly but looking for more of an artistic touch. I suppose.

Sorry, but I really dislike Cake Love. Just not good cake IMO. I would check out the Bake Shop in Clarendon. Awesome, beautiful cake and the owner seems really nice.

How about Fluffy Cakes in Mclean? I haven't been but have read good things. It's only about 10 min from Heidelburg.

I think its Fluffy Thoughts in McLean. The cupcakes there are good! Amphora in Vienna is also good.

ooh, it's not Arlington, but I second the Amphora recommendation. I did the cake-tasting with a bride friend and all the options we tried were phenomenal.

Another vote for Heidelberg. Their cakes are so good. My favorite is the yellow cake with vanilla frosting and raspberry filling. MMMMMMMMM MMMMMMMM!

Their chocolate mousse pie is amazing, too.

PP here - sorry, just realized that the OP doesn't want Heidelberg.

There is a mom who works out of her house in McLean or Arlington (can't remember) but her website/company is Esquire Confections-she has been recommended several times on the MONA list serv.

Try Tiffany, in Seven Corners. I made a 14 mi. trip from Fairfax just to get good pastries and a birthday cake for DH.

I wqas at a birthday party Sunday that had a cake from Castro's. It was the best cake I've ever eaten. I already told my husband I want one from here for my 30th. It had fruit in the middle with some sort of filling, but it was sickly sweet like most cakes. http://www.castrobakery2.com/

Honestly safeway's butter cream cake with strawberrys is delicious. It's always been a huge hit with kids and adults.
