IVF & Feds in 2011

I posted under another topic asking about MDIPA after you've run through the 3 cycles of benefits, and I received the answer I dreaded: medications would not be covered beyond those three cycles. It sounds like AETNA for Feds does not cover any of the drugs. For my DD several years ago, I had BCBS standard -no medical coverage, but the drugs were covered...now it appears that is being eliminated for 2011.

I have the curse of the slow responder....I often have to try several protocols before even making it to retrieval. After I exhaust MDIPA, are there any plans out there that will at least cover the drugs?

Aetna HMO for Feds does cover drugs at 50%, at least in 2010, but their prices can still be expensive.

Agree. Aetna covers meds at 50% but then increase their prices so it is equivalent to full price everywhere else. A real rip off.

Have you looked at Kaiser?

aetna is still a lot better than nothing. the ivf cycle is about 4000 compared to not being covered, which could be about 12000.
