Infertility Support and Discussion
I know there are a lot of threads on this forum regarding betas and the doubling time, but here's another one. I did a beta test on Monday and had a good beta 283 (16dpo). Went back Wednesday and it was only 447. Not doubled. Actually not even a 60% increase, which is another threshold I've read about. The nurse said the results were totally inconclusive and that I'd have to come in for a sono early next week. I decided that I couldn't wait until next week. (you all know how it is) I just wanted to know one way or the other. I had kind of accepted the fact that it probably wasn't a viable pregnancy. But I went in for another beta today (20dpo) and it went up to 720. Again, not doubled but still going up at about a 60% rate. The nurse said, again, that it was totally inconclusive and to come in for a sono next week.
I know anything is possible. But for those of you with similar experiences, give it to me straight. What are the chance of this actually being a viable pregnancy? I would rather know one way or the other, deal with it, and move on. If it is a viable pregnancy, what is the reason for such a slow increase? |

I'm sorry I can't answer your questions; I am sure if you've looked through the threads and seen betabase.info you've seen that there are many variations on this.
I can tell you that one cause of abnormal doubling times is an ectopic pregnancy. I had one and it caused my betas to increase (although by about 10% as opposed to 60%) Perhaps the doctor has some input for you? Hopefully it's all fine and that is the way your body just reacts to pregnancy. Good luck. |
