Infertility Support and Discussion

I'm 4 weeks and 4 days and I had some light spotting yesterday that was mucousy and pinkish/brown with no cramping. Around 8pm I started to get my typical on and off crampy feeling, and then it turned into a full on AF in the middle of the night. It is completely mucousy (there is always a string of it hanging from my vajay into the water, tmi, I know) and I always pass some black clots. I've had crampy AF feeling cramps during this whole episode through last night and slightly this morning. I had to sleep with a pad on because of the bleeding (which is normal AF colored with dark black clots that come out in the bathroom).
When I woke up and I checked my BBT, it's still sky high at 98.6. I don't know what I should do? Go get some home pregnancy tests? Go to the doctor and get a hcg reading? The hcg's take a day to get back, and since it's Friday I wouldn't get the results until Monday, unless I go to the ER which gets them back to you fast. But, I don't feel like I am bleeding enough to justify an ER visit. Just a side note, this is normally when I would get my period. I only charted for one month prior to getting pregnant and my luteal phase was 16 days. As of last night, I was 18 DPO. What should I do? Is this what a m/c is like? This is my first time so I have no idea. |
I would go to the doctor's office immediately. This is what happened to me for both my miscarriages.
Go to the doctor as soon as you can. A pregnancy test will still read positive even if you've begun having a miscarriage. Hang in there, OP. And best of luck.
Good to the doctors, like others have said. Not something to wait out. Of course it's possible that your body hasn't adjusted yet to pregnancy but like others said it's also possible that's not the case. Good luck.
Have you had a + pregnancy test? Cause it sounds like you are getting your AF.
I'm not sure why everyone is saying "rush to the doctor." If it is (heaven forbid) a miscarriage, there is nothing the doctor can do. I've been charting for about 6 months and sometimes my temp comes down on day 2-3 of my period. everyone is different though.
Right, but there are other causes of bleeding during pregnancy as opposed to a miscarriage. I had an ectopic pregnancy which resulted in blood loss and which would not have resolved itself on its own (and had I listened to advice to wait it out, I might literally be dead).
If you aren't in any pain, I don't think you need to rush to the doctor or the ER, but give your doctor a call and tell them you think you are pregnant but also are bleeding like AF. They may or may not want to see you but will likely do a blood test to see where Hcgs are. I mc'ed at 5wks and there really wasn't anything dr could do other than confirm when Hcgs were back at zero.
Agree. It sounds like your period. Are you still bleeding OP? Especially given that your period would come at this time anyway? OP - you said your 4 weeks pregnant - as in you didn't get your period last month? Did you get a positive preg. test last month or did you assume you were pregnant b/c you missed a period? I'm not sure I understand what 4 weeks pregnant means yet you would expect your period to come any day now? Wouldn't that be 8 weeks pregnant? |
Not the OP but pregnancy is counted from the date of your last period. So to be 4-wks pregnant means you are 14 days past ovulation. This is the normal time to get a period or if you are pregnant, than obviously you won't get one. I always tried to wait to 4wks past ovulation to test, but it's so hard to wait. I had a chemical last year at 5-wks and doctor basically said that had I not tested I woud have just thought my period was a little late.
Could it be implantation bleeding?
