I am 29 weeks, and last week, I had what I was SURE was a urinary tract infection...frequent, burning urination, soreness in the lower abdomen, etc. I've been having a ton of water and cranberry juice, and my doc started me on antibiotics ion Tuesday. As it turns out, neither the test they did in the office or sent out to the lab show any signs of a UTI! I guess this explains why nothing seems to have worked for the past week. Last night I only got about 2 hours of sleep, i was so uncomfortable. Has anyone else experienced this? I can't imagine this is a normal pregnancy symptom, but I could be wrong...

I think you can have a bladder infection w/o signs of a UTI...not sure though. |
There are other problems that can have the symptoms of a UTI, but not be a UTI. You might need to see a urologist. |
I went through the same thing about the same time. I think my doc thought I was crazy. All the tests came back normal and I don't remember it getting any worse. What was also weird was the constant feeling of having a full bladder, even when I had just went. It was just like a UTI.

OP here- thanks for the replies! I'm suspecting that it has something to do with the baby pushing on the bladder because it seems to come and go, and is especially bad at night. Maybe there is some irritation in that area, and the added pressure from the baby is making it feel painful? The other weird thing is that when I drink a lot of water, it tends to get better for a while. PP, I'm relieved to hear someone else experienced something similar...I think my doc thinks I'm a hypochondriac or something! |
