Infertility Support and Discussion
I just received a verbal list of all the meds I have to order - I was shocked - it was a ton of stuff!. I didn't bother jotting it down - didn't expect the list to be that long, but I caught: gonal, menopur, estrace and something like sesame oil??? My head is spinning - what did you have to take?
Yeah, it's a ton of #$%^. I haven't started my cycle yet but I literally came home with two huge shopping bags. I thought, where in the hell am I going to hide all of this crap from my friends and family. Especially, since half of it has to be refrigerated.
progesterone in oil, maybe?
I'm wondering if going to the fertility clinic is really worth it or not. Does anyone know of a friends who have gone through alternative medicine, like Chinese Herbal medicine, Acupuncture or such and been successful?
very similar list - just wait until it all arrives - crazy overwhelming!! BUT once you get started you'll figure out what it's all for - the injections class is helpful too if your RE offers one...
I did go through IVF and in parallel also consulted a TCM specialist. When I wasn't cycling I did use chinese herbs and religiously went to acupuncture sessions (cycling or not). I considered them helpful, complementary treatments. Personally I don't know anyone who had success with just TCM treatments, but I have read stories online... |
I really think it depends on your diagnosis as to whether or not alternative medicine will work. If your husband has zero sperm (azoospermia) then no amount of alternative medicine is going to help. |
There are many different protocols so everyone will have a different list of meds. You dr should call in your prescription to the pharmacy and email/mail you a list. This is something you don't want to get wrong!
We have a male factor as well (low morphology and motility), so Chinese medicine was not able to help us. I think if only a woman has issues, acupuncture can help in TTC.
so TCM/acupuncture won't help men at all? that is odd...I'd imagine it could help with bloodflow, etc.
