Warm, winter socks for toddlers and preschoolers

Anonymous
I haven't had luck finding winter socks for my boys. All the socks in the stores at the mall are just thin cotton socks or athletic socks.

Does anyone have any recommendations for stores or websites for winter socks for toddlers and preschoolers?

TIA!

LL Bean (online) would probably have some. It just doesn't get that cold here, which is why you don't find super-heavy socks and other similar things in the stores.

DS has socks from TCP (he likes that they are more stretchy). We also have socks from JCP (more of an athletic sock) and some crew socks from Target.

REI has smart wool socks for toddlers and children -- good for really cold days or if they're playing in the snow.

Yes - these are great, very warm. (Not just thick like some socks, but actually warm.)

This is OP....thanks so much for the tips!

And to the poster who says it doesn't get that cold here....I beg to differ!!! I grew up here and remember my toes getting absolutely numb in the winter if I tried to play outside for more than 20 minutes. I'm not saying it's New England cold around here but it's certainly cold enough for winter socks!

Target has some thicker ones -- you need to look over in the section where they have underwear/socks for older boys (not the toddler section)

Another recommendation for SmartWool socks. Love how warm they are without being itchy. REI carries them in kid sizes. LL Bean has either SmartWool or something similar. Most places with ski gear probably carry them. And wool is warm, even when wet. Nature's miracle fiber.

Piling on... We've used the REI socks for several years. DD calls them "comfy socks."
