| Anyone know the cost? Who do so many private schools leave the tuition off the website? |
| The 1/2 day afternoon pre-k is $17,500. I'm not sure about the full-day (although I know it's more). |
| Full day from 8:30-2:30 is about $24,000. |
| THAT's why they leave it off. How can any pre-K class (even SN) be worth that much? That's way more per year than my undergrad or grad school. |
| It's actually much less than other schools that cater to children with SN and is also in line with other preschools (NCRC, for example) that cater to NT children. |
| To each his own, I guess - but I think the emperor has no clothes. |
| I agree. It is a lot. However, my child is blossoming at this school. It is worth every single penny to me. |
| Actually, the out of pocket is far less. The tuition includes a lot of group SLP and OT that you can request an invoice for. Our insurance reimburses OON at 50%, we wrote the rest off on our taxes as a medical expense. Those things brought the tuition down tremendously, can't remember now but it was something like 1/3 although your tax bracket would also impact the benefit. According to our accountant, because fo the therapeutic nature of the school we could also deduct mileage, which helped make the drive more palatable. You can get the therapy costs from the director and run the numbers re: your insurance yourself. My DC also thrived at Maddux. Very few schools offer the therapy component, inclusion schools such as St. Columba's offer none. |
Have you ever visited the school or looked at what they do? I'm curious why you think this. |
| I'm not the poster you quoted. I wanted to say that when I first heard about the school and saw the cost I was flabergasted as I was paying just $15,000/yr for 2 kids in preschool and had no experience with other private schools and their costs. Then I visited the school and OMGoodness. I knew from that first visit that my child belonged there. I am so happy we applied and he got in. This is the very best place for my child right now. |
| If you compare it to many of the private schools in the area with pre-k tuition of around 25k, Maddux doesn't seem that expensive. |
Easily. What was the staff:student ratio in your grad program? (I'll hazard a guess it was not 1:2 in instructional settings.) Obviously your discipline didn't involve math, science, or logic. Maybe you should confine your "yelps for help" to a forum for the "artistically inclined." |
| I'm bumping this for the person who was looking for the Maddux tuition. |
My undergrad school classes had about 12 hours a week of instruction, with a ratio of about 30 to 1, often taught by people with Master's degrees. In contrast, Maddox has about 25 hours a week of instruction, with a ratio of maybe 4 to 1, taught be people with Master's degrees. Why would you expect to pay less for the latter? |

[b] We are desperate for our child to attend Maddux and trying to figure out how to pay teh tuition. To this poster -- can you share what insurance you have and how you were able to get coverage and other details you can share on how to make the tuition palatable? |
