Plantar fasciitis

Anonymous
Oh, woe is me. Aside from the cortisone shots into my heel, has anyone had a treatment that was effective? Anyone tried those boots you sleep in?

I've tried almost everything and still have it after two and a half years. What I haven't yet done is physical therapy, and I think that has to be the way to go now. I just had to have the PT fix my frozen shoulder first. I'm falling apart. I hope you have better luck than I've had with plantar fasciitis.

I suffered for over a year. I ended up ordering the inserts from heelthatpain.com and doing the exercises. The towel stretch in the morning and massage. The pain was gone after a week and hasn't returned! And I no longer wear the inserts or do the stretches. Give it a try OP!

Yep, those inserts are great. I have to wear MBTs Mon-Fri and heels & heeled boots only on weekends.
I am a pretty skeptical person so I was dubious of the MBTs but they truly work. The nagging backache I've had for several months has disappeared too.

OK, great advice, thanks! But what's an MBT?

Hi
There are many things you can do to treat your plantar fasciitis. I had plantar fasciitis for about a year and I discovered that treatment is individual. Things that work for one will not necessarily work for the other. The good news is that you have many treatments you can try but you must be persistent and patient.
I have found a good plantar fasciitis treatment review website in:
http://www.plantar-fasciitis-elrofeet.com/How_is_Plantar_Fasciitis_Treated.html
There are many self care treatments ideas in there but I think you should consult a podiatrist before do something.
Take care

I get orthotics specially made for my feet. I also do stretches. I don't ever wear swanky dress-up shoes. My work shoes are very comfortable and supportive of my feet, but nothing other ladies will ooo and ahhh over. I never go without shoes at home. I wear those ugly crocks around the house and they provide the support I need. HTH!!

Thanks, everyone, for all those helpful suggestions. I'm off to stretch!

I never go barefoot. I wear $500 inserts that save my life. Flats kill me, I am better off with a 1/2 in. heel.

Between 2 shots, some home remedies, and wearing shoes with support (never had to get orthotics, I just mean not going barefoot and not wearing bad shoes) I managed to get over it. I did deep calf stretches several times a day and when sitting at my desk, rolled my foot (bare or in a thin sock) over a frozen water bottle.

My husband was suffering from this and we were just about to go to a specialist when a co-worker of mine (ultra marathon runner) suggested he try the KT tape. Here is a video on how to apply the tape: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x272_NziK2g. For the price of the tape ($12) it was worth a try. My husband taped up at night and while exercising for about 2 works and low and behold it actually worked. It hasn't been bothering him at all now. I should caveat this suggestion though and say that he tried this treatment early on, so I'm not sure how effective it would be for someone who has suffered longer.

When I start feeling pain I wear the boot when I sleep for a few days and it prevents a flare up.

OP here -- I just got the boot a couple of days ago. It really makes a difference; I could tell the first night.

Thanks, everyone, for all the great advice.
