My DD loves them and they are an easy protein to make since my husband and I don't eat much meat. How many a week is too many? |
Is there really such a thing as too many? I mean... as long as they aren't eating something absurd like three dozen eggs a week (which, still, doesn't seem like it would cause a problem) then I'm sure it's a normal amount. Our DD eats a lot of eggs in place of meat. |
My son loves them too and I was told by my pediatrician to limit it to 2 times a week.
Not sure if it matters but he also eats red meat 2 times a week. I try to do one vegetarian day at least....ie.spinach and rice. |
Anyone else find eating the fetal part of a chicken weird? |
I would like to know why we should limit them to 2x a week. My son can eat 3 scrambled eggs every morning and he has a balanced diet the rest of the day. |
As you probably know, eggs are high in cholesterol relative to many other foods. The American Heart Association has relaxed its recommendations on the number of eggs per week somewhat, but you still need to watch overall cholsterol intake. So if your child is otherwise generally eating a low fat/cholesterol diet, then eggs each day are prob okay. But if he/she eats a lot of processed foods, high fat milk and/or cheese, then would probably be a good idea to limit to just a few eggs per week. FWIW, we limit eggs to about 4/week. Also FWIW, you could serve egg whites which are high in protein but low in cholesterol, so then you could serve them more often. |
You are an idiot. |
I was told by a pediatric dietician that I should not worry about overfeeding my 2yo eggs. Granted, she had food allergies, but she was encouraging lots of eggs to up protein for us. |
I'd be comfortable with an egg a day. We don't eat meat, DC drinks skim milk, and we avoid most processed food. |
13:19 here (after hitting submit too soon). DC doesn't necessarily eat an egg every day. But it's very easy to cook one egg and wrap it in a whole wheat tortilla with salsa, avocado, and a little cheese, so that's a frequent and favorite breakfast. |
My ped also said one egg a day is nothing to worry about. |
Oops, DD had three scrambled eggs, mandarin oranges and a blueberry waffle for dinner tonight. Two eggs too many. |
Nope, actually, I (and DS) find eggs tasty! We've been limiting our 2 year old to 2 eggs per week, but that's totally arbitrary and I have no idea why. I'm actually thinking I can throw in another egg or two per week in there. |
I thought that the cholesterol thing (raising blood cholesterol) was outdated and for most people eating 1/day is completely fine?
Our DD loves eggs and we're happy to give them to her frequently because they are so nutritious. |
Fruit is the fetal part of a plant. |
