Private & Independent Schools
What do folks know about this school? Thanks.
Just heard that almost all the kids get red shirted, and academics are soso.
what does "red shirted" mean?
Held back. You know, 6 and 7 year olds in Kindergarten. They seem to use this tactic to get kids that are more "advanced". |
They told me to hold back my son, too.
Is this only for boys with birthdays May or later or all of them?
Regardless, it seems a bit strange. They seem to want to make their lives easier, while they take your money.
The clear impression I got was that they seem to want to hold back all summer birthdays (and some spring birthdays!) - boys and girls.
I have heard from one teacher that teaches there and one teacher from Holton, that it is a waste of time school and that public is better.
Visited during Fall open house. It was repulsive how kids were put "on stage" like animals to perform their so-called impressive reading skills. (Did NOT impress me) Reminded me of an old-school one room schoolhouse, total rote learning, pained looks on the kids faces, too "organized" and un child friendly. The only bright spot was the playground, on which I rarely see kids when I pass by every day.
Alum mom here and while there are many, many good things about the school, I can't disagree with the PP. Those are the cons of a school that also has many pros.
Ditto, I can't believe they get students. |
Sounds like all those making uncomplimentary remarks have issues and will never be happy. They really must get a life.
No, we can be happy. We have our kids at other independent schools. |
I will not go there! I am happy your happy!
