What is your favorite? I've never been, have a friend who loves El San Juan but reviews suggest it has seen better days. Would love a great beach and pools.

What is your budget per night?

Best would probably be The Ritz-Carlton Dorado Beach

Marriott Stellaris in Condado has a lovely pool area and nice beach frontage but swimming in Condado is not great.

If it's worth it I'd consider it but those prices are more than Cap Juluca or Eden Rock, which are truly exceptional.

Rio Wyndham Mar is great if you are ok being closer to El Yunque than San Juan

I’ve not been to Eden Rock but have stayed at the other two. The Ritz is the better property, but Anguilla edges out PR for me any day.

Swimming in Condado Beach is deadly. Do not get into that water, even to just your knees. The riptides will sweep you out, do a google search on this please, for the safety of your family.

Yup. Great beach, great pools, great rooms and terrific service.

For mid-range price I like the Royal Sonesta.

Condado Vanderbilt hotel was great. It’s a beautiful historic property with very good
service. We there during the holiday season last year.

It’s truly oceanfront, we had an oceanfront balcony and could also hear waves crashing from our bedroom when we slept with windows open. They also have great pools and poolside service and it’s walkable to lots of shops and restaurants.

But as others have pointed out, Condado Beach is not for swimming.

Hilton Caribe has a nice pool setup, lots of space for lounging, and a little protected cove for ocean swimming.

This is a very nice property with lovely pools and decent restaurants. But just FYI, the whole time we stayed there last summer there were red flags on the beach, so while it might not be as dangerous as Condado, it's not great if you want to swim at the beach.

Another vote for Dorado.

You can also stay in condos on the property and access a lot of the resort for less money.

The St Regis is now a Four Seasons... mixed reviews so far.
