What’s the consensus on who has the advantage in this race?
I would have presumed that Elissa would be the favorite given her name recognition, but there is little perceptible enthusiasm around her candidacy. |

I've seen way more Elissa Silverman signs in people's yards than for the other candidates which are basically non-existent. Not sure what kind of excitement there is for Jacque Patterson who seems to run every four years and Doni Crawford who has lived in the city for just a few years (I doubt she can pick out Palisades or Turkey Thicket on a map). And when you watch her in the debates, it is clear she is too green (i.e. she has declared she wants to end overtime for police officers).
I think we need a far more active City Council especially during this Trump era. Silverman fits the bill. Her oversight was outstanding especially during Covid when DC's employment system was a joke and the website where you filed unemployment looked like it hadn't been changed since the '90s. And her work to create and pass paid family leave is one of the rare accomplishments that has been a proven success. |
| Definitely not Patterson, but I didn't feel too strongly between the other two. |
