| I have a really big basil plant in my garden and want to use it. Ideas besides pesto and putting it on pizza? |
| Put it In seafood, pasta dishes. |
| With fresh mozzarella on tomato slices |
|
Pasta dishes, and can be used in a pinch in Thai curry.
Make pasta sauce with fresh basil and freeze it. I’d make pesto and freeze it. I add pesto to sandwiches, pizza, minestrone, green beans, etc. |
|
Top any pasta dish with it.
It tastes good on a burger. You can also freeze it into ice cubes, then you'll be able to use it in the winter. I'm sure you know this ... keep picking it, even if you don't use all of it, so that the plant doesn't bolt or become bitter. |
| Goes great with gin and cucumber over ice 😀 |
|
I like it added to a stir fry at the end and also in salads, especially with strawberries. Lots of Thai dishes use Thai Basil, but sometimes I use Genovese and it's different but still good to my taste (I'm not a Thai purist).
It's also delicious in ice cream, like basil chip instead of mint chip. |
| You could make bruschetta as well. |
|
- soups
- salads - sauces - dressings - pasta dishes - chicken /fish dishes - cocktails - jams (blueberry basil is good) |
Yep, that's why I was feeling the need to use it ... I keep pruning it! |
| I freeze it into cubes by running it through my small food processor with olive oil. It’s great all winter and doesn’t take up much freezer space. |
| We have caprese like twice a week in season! Also upvoting the bruschetta idea, broadly defined. I like fresh basil on my bagel with cream cheese. |
Oooh, I like this idea. |
| It's also really good with lemonade. |
|
Mix it in salad
Put it on sandwiches |
