| I was speaking with someone about older kids practice times for clubs like Alexandria and Arlington. Is it true that the U14+ are practicing from 9-10:30pm at night?!?! How are kids getting enough sleep? I played travel soccer and AAU basketball during my teen years and we never practiced this late at night! Is this a new thing? Or just because we live in a highly dense area where there isnt enough field space? |
|
Its because there isn't enough field space.
|
| That's one of the reason why i didn't consider ASA for my son. ASA practice location is across town from us, and a much later practice time. We wouldn't be home until close to midnight. |
Midnight?!?! On a school night? That is absolutely bonkers. |
| This is true for ASA. Practice would technically end at 10pm, but coach would keep them later. Then getting out of Witter was a nightmare because one way in, same way out. Kid wasn't getting home until 10:45pm, then had to at least shower and often would also eat again. Total nightmare. |
Not just an ASA thing. Probably most major clubs. One of the reasons we avoid the major clubs who don't have this figured out. Absolutely crazy. |
| I guess the alternative is more reasonable practice times but its 6 teams on the field, or you are practicing on grass. |
| SYC ends at 9pm, which I greatly appreciate. They get a lot of a players outside if the Springfield area and it's a good 40+ min drive 1 way for some families like mine. |
|
my kids are in two different clubs. both have same timelines:
elementary school (u8-u11) 5-630 middle school (u12-u14) 630-8 high school (u15-u19) 8-930 a little deviation here and there, but basically that's the schedule |
Some SYC teams end 9:30-9:45. |
Which age group, boys or girls? This way i can keep that in mind for next year. |
U15 girls (possibly boys also, have not really paid attention) |
| Practice for NVA older boys ended at 9:30 |
| Sure beats a 5pm or earlier time which can be impossible to get to with two working parents. |
This time slot should be for the u17 or older groups. They get out of school earlier and many are already driving themselves. |
