| What's the simplest, most economical, yet still legitimate way to get tested for ADHD? No health insurance, will be paying out of pocket. Thank you. |
| No insurance isn't gonna be economical |
You might be able to find a therapist that can do it. We paid around $150-200 for a therapist to do the test and to write the letter. The test is just asking a bunch of questions and is probably some version of the Valentine test, which also screens for ODD, OCD, etc. |

I would not recommend an online service--only because a prescriber might be wary of prescribing a stimulant if you only took an online test.
If you do not want a stimulant, it might be easier. |

Only do it if you need medication is my first tip.

You don't have to be "tested". As an adult, you can go to a psychiatrist who can interview you and ask about your medical and symptom history, and you can be diagnosed that way. Then the psychiatrist can prescribe drugs.
If you need to be "tested" for accommodations in the work place or university, then you have to go to a psychologist for a psyched evaluation. |
| I'm getting a neuropsych assessment because every psychiatrist I talked to said my symptoms could be ADHD but could be attributed to something else. It's expensive though my insurance should reimburse for some of the cost. Hopefully it's worthwhile and I get some clarity. |
What was the “something else”? |
| Reading through these posts makes the whole process seem very scammish. |
