| And if there is an error, can it be changed after it submitted? |
| 24 hours after the final, yes mistakes happen no one is perfect email the teacher. |
| Except - 24 hours after the final, we still have assignments sitting ungraded. |
Then “we” need to contact the teacher and/or admin. There is nothing DCUM can do. |
Yes. Admin can even change it over the summer. |
| My HSer is pretty concerned (I am too after examining SIS). Her Spanish 2 class has NINE assignments, both summatives and formatives, that are listed as Not Graded. Some go back as far as March 5th. So her grade in the class is currently an A- but if the teacher all of a sudden puts in these grades tonight, that may have a huge impact. I know my kid has been asking this teacher to put in the grades since March and the answer is always "focus on the upcoming work, not on what is in the past". I even spoke to the teacher myself back in April and we got the counselor involved, too. But my kid asked me to back off because she didn't want the teacher to take it out on her via the ungraded work. Students can't learn from past mistakes, nor do they know if they need to pull up a grade. Now it's too late of course. |
March 5? Nine assignments? Wow. This is so unfair to your student and should be entirely unacceptable. As a parent, I would be torn about how to handle it, too. The teacher has all the power! |

DC has assignments from December in her language class not graded, so I feel your pain. It’s very unfair when they are unable to take advantage of retakes when needed either.
And yes, teachers will take it out on students when they are called out. My best advice is take screenshots of the grade book today with the assignments ungraded and her current grade. If the final grade is lower, then raise to the Asst Principal in charge of that subject matter. Go to FCPS Ombudsman if needed. There is definitely an issue with teachers not grading work across the county. I really wish the FCPS IT dept would write some scripts that check to see if assignments remain ungraded for a period greater than 20 days. Scripts would write a report that goes to Asst Principal for resolution, instead of requiring the parents to monitor and raise the issues. |
This is good advice, thank you. And yes, that’s a great idea about the automated flagging through FCPS IT! |
| NP and DD emailed a teacher again today and copied us, her counselor and principal because 7 summatives are still not graded. She has been talking to the teacher and following up with the counselor since January. I have also sent an email a while back. She wanted to take the lead on this but I’ll request a meeting with the principal if nothing is in by tomorrow. It’s already unacceptable. |
