Reasonably stylish big and tall clothes?

DS has hit a growth spurt again and is now 5’11” with very broad shoulders and a long torso. The XXL sizes he was wearing no longer fit.

And he’s had some weight gain due to medication, so he is wanting oversized things.

We are about to move, so new high school too. And DS doesn’t want obvious brands etc. I think he would live in his hoodies but they are all short now.

Where can I find neutral, soft and roomy clothes in this size range? Ideally online as we’re very rural at the moment. Walmart is our only local store and we don’t have a mall.

I swear the universe is laughing at me because my DD is tiny and has to work hard to find clothes small enough that aren’t kid sizes.

I think you just need an adult store? This is not big and tall, it just is no longer shopping in the children’s section.

My son is now 6’5” and was 6’0 in 8th grade, so I feel you! It’s hard to find clothes. We now get almost all his clothes from American Tall. They are not cheap but I know things will fit. That said, they do cater more to the tall and slim than to the big and tall.

Lands End and LLBean also have tall sizes, and I’ve had good luck finding things like those flannel PJ pants boys were wearing all the time a few years ago.

OP, we also have good luck with American Tall for certain things, but they are too pricy for us to shop exclusively there. Old Navy has a surprisingly good selection of big and tall sizes in pants and tops. My 6'4" son gets a ton of his clothes from there. They ship to you, and you can return via shipping as well.

Look online and order big and tall sizes. If xxl are too small go up to 3x. My son is 6’1 and his hoodies are primarily xxl in Champion and Nike. Champion is definitely cut roomier than Nike. You can find both big and tall sizes online for both brands and others, it just depends what your son likes.

A 5-11 kid does not need American Tall. Their clothes are genuinely for very tall men.

Agree with PP just buy larger men’s sizes.

My husband is 6’8” and needs tall clothes. DD is 6” and she can shop at regular women’s stores. I’m not trying to be dense but I’m not sure why 5’11” for a man would require anything beyond the regular adult men’s section? I’m 5’11” inches as a woman and only shop at regular women clothing stores.

My brother is 6’4” and he shops at normal men’s stores. So do my 6’3” nephews. My 6’6” nephew does big and tall.

Did OP mean her son was 6’11”? I’m totally confused.

It may depend on his torso length I am a very short person, but I am built with a long torso, so I could never wear petite like anything. My husband is 6ft and also has a long torso so he has to buy tall lengths in some shirts

Did you not read the part about him having very broad shoulders, gaining some weight, and wanting oversized clothes?

But we’ve found for underarmour and Nike the bodies are still fairly slim.

I have an 8th grader who wears 28x36 pants. We’ve had good luck with ordering Levi’s on Amazon. Jogger type pants are tough, but Under Armour has tall/extra long sizes.

Nike definitely runs slimmer but my son always loved it so we sized up 1-2 sizes more.
