Help me decide please… cast iron or fireclay kitchen sink?

Anonymous
I’ve been reading and they both have their pros and cons. I would love to hear from people that have them and your thoughts or regrets etc. I’m thinking about getting one in an off white color but am having trouble deciding. Thanks!

Is the cast iron covered in enamel?

Because if you don't keep it greased and seasoned, cast iron can rust.

I love enameled cast-iron.

I've done both, loved them both. It was a matter of size and the layout needs. One was farm house the other was undermount.

Neither. We went with a thick stainless steel.

This is what I would do too.
Haven't had the clay but have had copper and still think the stainless steel is the best. And it will get scratched so just calm down. It's a sink.

We have a fire clay sink that cracked the second week we had it. I will never buy another white sink again. They’re disgusting.

In my next house I’ll do a stainless steel sink and if DH protests I’ll do the fake farmhouse with marble in front. IDK why men love farmhouse sinks so much.

Thanks for the input guys.

I usually see women pushing for apron front sinks and men normally ambivalent.

DP. DH here. I just agree with DW on kitchen or bathroom design. Offering any input from me would be a suicide run, so I just agree.

My mother's enameled cast-iron kitchen sink was rust-colored, so it didn't show any stains. It was honestly gorgeous.

I have a large single basin black enameled Kohler overhung sink installed in 2004. It is vibrant and glossy everywhere but the bottom. The bottom is grey from wear on the gloss. I honestly haven't tried to buff it or polish it because nobody cares. But I would wonder if a white enameled sink would show a lot of marks.

Side note: my two Kohler faucets have been lemons.

I know it's a tangent, but we no longer go with Kohler faucets and prefer Grohe for the style and durability.
