Curious to know what you all wore if you work outside the house and your commute involved being outside on foot.
If anybody has suggestions for a poplin/linen work dress or a linen jacket, I would love to know |

Dresses are my go-to. I haven't tried it on but went by a Brooks Brothers recently and thought this dress looked very comfortable for summer and work appropriate:

I would walk with a parasol otherwise my hair would go limp in my sunhat. Mere sunscreen alone doesn't cut it for me in that sort of heat.
I have LoveShackFancy lightweight cotton maxi dresses , and very light, practically sheer cotton-silk blouses from Alicia Bell that I pair with cotton skirts (if the blouse is pale, I wear a cami). I also have very thin 100% cotton shirts made from cotton batiste. Lawn, cambric, batiste, all those are the lightest types of cotton weaves. No stretchy clingy jersey cotton in 100F! I mostly find these on Poshmark, because stores are way too full of polyester. |
| Ann Taylor for linen jackets. |
| Banana Republic has good linen. |
| linen dress (no polyester linings) |
I love that this is cotton! |
| Today I wore a linen shirt dress from J Crew. I used to hate linen but the past couple of years it's become my go-to during the summer. I'm becoming more heat intolerant as I age! |
BB has been making this style for years. I have several of them. The supima cotton sateen wrinkles far less than poplin. Poshmark sometimes has these. |
| Linen dress from Boden (100% linen) or Banana Republic Factory (less expensive linen blend). I have a suit in my office if I need to become more formal in a pinch. |
| Crisp cotton dresses. Never jersey. |
| How do you keep linen looking good? It creases right away. I gave up on it 20 years ago. Is today’s linen different? |
Being slightly wrinkled is part of the look. |
| A parka… |
| Dress and sandals |
