DD 12 and I are looking for a show to watch together and we both love shows that tend to be a little bit spooky, and also shows that are about mothers and daughters. This show called "Sharp Objects" seems to be both! However, I've heard it can get a bit violent. DD isn't the most sensitive but not the least sensitive either. DCUMers who have watched the show, inappropriate? Yay or nay?
NO, that show contains plotlines with child abuse

I don’t know anything about that specific show, but even if I did, judgments about what is or isn’t appropriate are highly subjective. That’s why I always recommend parents use Common Sense Media and or/the IMDB Parent’s Guide for specific information regarding any areas of concern (including violence). I hope you get the responses you’re looking for regarding opinions of this show, but even then I would encourage you to consult one or both of these websites for additional information.

No it was terrible. I couldn’t through it. Also my least favorite of her books
No way. I'm pretty liberal with my teens when it comes to watching but I thought it was so heavy. There are several scenes about child abuse and cutting. It was hard to watch.
No and I am not normally an overly concerned parent. My kids read whatever they wanted at any age. Sharp Objects is a tough story I’d chose something else. |
God no.
I read that book and also watched the show. The show has gruesome murder scenes, torture, child abuse, sexual assault, and at least one scene of female masturbation.
