9 year old boy growing out of size 18 clothing

Anonymous
Could you please make suggestions of where to shop for very very reasonably priced clothing for my 9 year old? He is quickly outgrowing kids clothes. I've had great success with thrift stores, REI, children's place online and target for the occasional need, but I feel I would benefit from a robust list of options. I always loved the CP free shipping and deep clearance.

Sometimes the items are the same price as a thrift store. Please help me to keep my kids wardrobe fun. My kid probably fits in the husky range and is on track to be a very big, tall person.

If they've grown out of size 18 then you have to shop at the adult mens section. Is he into athletic wear? That's what most people wear anyway these days. Thrift stores, sporting goods stores, dept store clearance racks, etc. I'd also see if your neighborhood has a buy nothing group or yard sales. A place like Costco may also work.

Have him play basketball.

Just buy adult small athletic wear. Literally any store you want. TJ Maxx usually has good deals on different brands.

Non sweat pants are the hard thing. You should probably take your son to a department store if youre looking for a pair of jeans or dress pants.

How tall is he?

Adult stuff sometimes doesn’t work. I have found some stuff on JCPenney online. They have big sizes with kid appropriate stuff

What is size 18? I have girls and their sizes go up to 14/16 and then go to women sizes. Do boys sizes go above that?

Is there a male equivalent of the Juniors department in department stores?

Does Lands End boys go up to 18/20? I think they may at least in school uniforms? Check eBay. Yeah there is that tricky period for kids where the kids stuff gets hard to find those upper sizes, but mens and women’s doesn’t work yet.

I do have good success finding men’s athletic clothing at larger thrift stores. There is one near my other teen’s summer activity and I would just run thru first thing in the morning g while the store is near and organized and for a lot of name brand good condition athletic and casual clothing for my teen son.

Just start getting Men’s small. Not everything will fit, but he’ll grow into it. Target works.

Depends on height too though.

We've had success with FB Maketplace for kids clothes! There's so many people getting rid of bundles of clothes so lots of choices. We donated what we didn't like but got some nicer brands. We also liked Nike clearance outlet (they have tall sizes), Kohl's, and thrifting for kids stuff.

I have just moved my 90 percentile ten year old into men’s small and medium. I found some nice Tshirts on Depop which are used but better quality than I saw elsewhere. Also I go to consignment sales.

I never used Depop before but I would use it again.
