Summer sandals for plantar fasciitis?

Anonymous
Birkenstocks don't feel great on my feet, I know I'm an outlier. Looking for recs for summer sandals that are not overly hideous that I could wear with skirts and sundresses , that have great arch support and enough cushioning so they don't flare up my plantar fasciitis this summer. Usually I stick to my custom inserts inside some Hokas and this keeps the problem at bay, but every summer it tends to flare up when I start adding flip flops into the mix. Willing to spend pretty much any amount for the right pair.

My Croc Kadee ii thong flip flops are the best for my PF. They are the only flip flops that don't make my PF come back. My PF is mostly gone now, but if I wear the wrong shoes, it comes back easily.

Thanks- I'm the same way, if I go a week wearing not much besides flip flops (like at the beach), I pay for it for the following 2 weeks of needing to wear nothing but Hokas with inserts every time my feet hit the floor including walking to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I'll look at those.

Does anyone have these from Taos? Are they good for PF? I feel like the straddle the line between moderately nice looking, but still likely comfortable

I like the sandals from Olukai (Ho‘ōpio Hui & Ho‘ōpio Maluā) and Oofos (OOlalas).

Make sure you're still doing the stretches and exercises daily. Massaging the knots out of the calf is also key! I use a foam roller or tennis ball.

I love Taos - have high arches and wear them a lot. I also have good luck with Born sandals and the Okuka flip-flops. And yes, if I don't wear shoes like this I will get plantar fascistic. Most important for me though is good (and newish) exercise shoes.

Try Pikolinos or Naot (both sold at Nordstrom).

Those are very ugly. There is no world in which they are moderately nice looking.

I just bought a pair from Kuro Footwear that I’m happy with. https://www.kurufootwear.com/

I have PF and have Birks, Taos, and Kuru. These bianca shoes from Naot are the most comfortable (even European cobbblestones) and seem to work with a variety of outfits, including dressier clothes.

When you know a seaonal-appropriate shoe is good for you, you need to wear it half the day. Half of every day. Consider it your recovery shoe for whatever else you're doing. Don't ever go a full day/weekend in flat flip flops or any shoe that's not good for your feet.
