OMG...so many AU college memories. Love their pizza!

We were just discussing whether to get one more spinach and garlic deep dish pizza but I think we'll probably just live off the memories.

Seemed to say there'll be a restaurant out by Bethany still though?

I have so many fond memories of Armand’s from my time at AU. Last year I was so nostalgic that on my birthday I picked up a pizza from the Rockville Armands. It was awful. The last Armands closing seems like the end of an era, but I can certainly see why.

I cannot believe my boyfriend (now husband) and I used to be able to polish off one of their meat-lovers pizzas back when we were just out of college. I can feel my cholesterol rising just thinking about it now.

As noted in the article, the Bethany Beach outpost is still open. It won’t close for lack of business while my extended family is alive.

I remember their sign imploring customers not to ask for double the cheese because they already use triple the cheese, so they’d have to remove some.

I had language labs on the weekends. I’d finish my lab, pick up a slice at Armand’s, and head back to the dorm to watch college football.

In the early ‘70s, they had a sub shop on Wisconsin next to where Cactus Cantina is, and they had a cheeseburger sub that I craved as a 10 year old. The large had three patties and cost maybe $5-6. I remember when my dad found out I was wasting my money on extra food like that he gave me a lecture.

My dad used to drive to the one in Rockville because they gave him a free slice for pickup vs delivery.

The spinach was our standard order, too. Why was it so good?

I understand the nostalgia, but really the pizza was never very good.
